Qualifications

• Master of Science in Physics, Health Physics, Radiological Physics, Medical Physics or related field.
• PhD preferred.
• Texas License in Medical Physics specialty required.
• ABR or equivalent board certification required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise in Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Medical Nuclear Physics.
• Serve as primary Radiation Safety Officer for X-Ray and RAM licenses and liaise with state health services.
• Develop and evaluate radiation safety policies to minimize patient and staff exposure.
• Oversee equipment performance evaluations and image quality across imaging modalities.
• Perform dosimetry and shielding calculations to meet regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with architects on radiation shielding and space planning.
• Lead quarterly physics program reviews and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Investigate radiation incidents and coordinate corrective actions with health physicists.
• Participate in Radiation Protocol and Safety Committees and accreditation activities.
• Coordinate acceptance testing of new imaging equipment and vendor partnerships.
• Support budgeting, education, and professional development within the department.
• Demonstrate Memorial Hermann service standards in care and safety.

Education

Master of Science in Physics or related field

PhD preferred

Texas License in Medical Physics

Board Certification (ABR or equivalent)

Clinical experience post graduate training
