Job summary

Georgia Bone & Joint in Newnan, GA is seeking a Radiologic Technologist specialized in MRI to perform scans, screen patients for contraindications, explain procedures, select coils and pads, position patients, and ensure image quality for PACS transfer.

The role requires graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program, active RT (MR) and CT registrations, CPR certification, and a commitment to safety, patient education, and teamwork under the supervision of the Chief Technologist.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) with MR/CT credentials.
  • Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Review physician orders and assess medical information to determine exam purpose.
  • Screen patients for contraindications before entering the MRI room.
  • Explain procedures clearly to patients and obtain informed consent when required.
  • Select appropriate pad and coil and position the patient for optimal imaging.
  • Examine images after initial sequence and adjust location parameters for next scan.
  • Organize images, perform the scan, and transfer images to PACS.

Job description

Primary duties and responsibilities:
  • Review Physician orders and obtain pertinent medical information to identify reason for the exam
  • Screen patients for contraindications prior to entering the magnetic field
  • Thoroughly explain the procedure to the patient
  • Be able to select appropriate pad and coil and position for each patient
  • Examine images following initial sequence and select location parameters for next scan
  • Organize images, perform the scan, and transfer images to PACS system
  • Perform minor maintenance and report of MRI equipment. Refer larger problems/issues to the Chief Technologist
  • Practice proper safety techniques in accordance with departmental polices and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Provide clear information and education to patient
  • Anticipates and responds promptly to needs and request of patients and/or staff

License/Certification Required:
  1. Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  2. Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) (MR) (CT)
  3. Current CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation) certification
