Job description

Job Summary

CT-MRI Technologist provides patient services utilizing computed tomography and MRI imaging equipment, making a record of the exam produced for interpretation by the radiologist. May assist in other medical imaging divisions as trained.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates schedule flexibility, punctuality and availability, and works well under pressure.
  • Communicates and discusses semi‑complex or involved information; sets priorities; organizes and coordinates a variety of multiple tasks, prioritizing and managing time effectively; meets and establishes time schedules; and works cohesively with all levels of hospital personnel and physicians.
  • Provides personal care and safe transfers, including proficiency with adaptive equipment such as Hoyer lifts and sliding boards.
  • Demonstrates solid interpersonal, customer and problem‑solving skills.
  • Handles confidential materials and complies with the corporate compliance plan.
  • Participates in hospital performance improvement initiatives as directed.
  • Keeps both patient and significant others informed of exam status.
  • Responds to patient’s request for assistance in a timely manner and follows through to meet patient’s need.
  • Performs patient CT and MRI services according to department policy and procedures and regulatory agency guidance, interprets physician’s orders accurately, assists in maintenance of patient and department records and ensures patient safety.
Education

Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program required. Prior CT training is preferred.

Work Experience

Radiology Technologist experience preferred. One year of experience as registered CT technologist preferred. Multi‑modality technologist preferred.

Certification/License

Registered CT technologist (RT(CT)) required, currently registered by the ARRT. Cross‑training individuals allowed to attempt registry within 30 days of hire and pass within 90 days of eligibility. BLS through the American Heart Association required.

Mental/Physical Requirements

Close mental and visual attention required for sustained periods. Frequently works under stressful conditions due to demands of customers and the critical condition of some patients. Must be able to transport self throughout the department. Standing, walking, sitting, carrying/lifting (up to 35 lbs.), turning, carrying, pushing, pulling and stooping.

Working Conditions

Potential exposure to infectious diseases, disagreeable odors from patients, anesthetics, disinfectants, and/or chemicals. May be exposed to controlled radiation exposure. Will be subject to call on a regular or as scheduled basis. Will be scheduled various shifts and days of the week as necessary to efficiently and effectively provide services.
