Job summary

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists, PC in Malta, NY is seeking a Full-Time MRI Coordinator (Front Desk) to join our imaging department. You will welcome patients, collect information, coordinate with external imaging centers, and ensure smooth check-in and check-out for MRI services.

The role requires strong communication, familiarity with medical terminology, and the ability to balance patient needs with billing tasks such as collecting co-pays and posting charges.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical setting; 3 years preferred.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Familiar with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for MRI patients, delivering warm, professional, and responsive service, obtaining required information, documents and signatures.
• Contacts other imaging centers to set up appointments for our patients and/or provides support to outside vendors.
• Contacts patients to confirm their test appointment and ensure a follow-up appointment has been made.
• Performs check-out process, collects patient payments, including co-pays and any past due balances, posts cash into the practice management system and issues receipts.
• Schedules follow-up appointments and testing as directed by the provider.
• Posts charges from encounter forms in accordance with correct coding guidelines (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9).
• Performs accounts receivable work, balances and closes journal daily.
• Other responsibilities as needed.
