The Town of Natick is seeking an experienced emergency communications professional to serve as Training Coordinator for the Middlesex Regional Emergency Communications Center (MRECC).
This is a unique opportunity to take a lead role in implementing and developing the training program for a new regional 9-1-1 emergency communications center.
The Training Coordinator will initially be employed by the Town of Natick and assigned exclusively to MRECC. From the date of hire, the Training Coordinator will report directly to the MRECC Executive Director. The position is expected to transition to direct MRECC employment as MRECC completes its organizational transition.
The Training Coordinator is responsible for implementing, coordinating, delivering, evaluating, and continuously improving MRECC’s comprehensive employee training program.
A primary initial responsibility will be implementing MRECC’s training academy for newly hired Emergency Communications Specialists as the Center prepares to begin regional operations. Much of the foundational curriculum has already been developed. The Training Coordinator will organize, adapt, coordinate, and deliver that training while developing additional materials where necessary.
The position also administers MRECC’s Communications Training Officer program, continuing education, remedial training, training and certification records, and public education and outreach activities.
The Training Coordinator has functional authority over Communications Training Officers and agency instructors while they are performing training-related duties.
Candidates should possess a combination of education, professional experience, training, and certifications demonstrating the ability to manage a comprehensive emergency communications training program.
Additional emergency communications certifications are preferred. The successful candidate may be required to obtain applicable agency certifications within one year of appointment.
Experience with Priority Dispatch EMD, EFD, and EPD protocols is desirable; instructor certification in these disciplines is not required.
The successful candidate will be an experienced emergency communications professional who understands both the technical requirements and human side of training employees for a high-performance 9-1-1 environment.
The position requires excellent instructional, organizational, leadership, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to independently manage multiple training priorities.
The Training Coordinator must be comfortable providing direction and feedback to CTOs, evaluating trainee performance, addressing training inconsistencies, and working collaboratively with supervisors and Quality Assurance personnel.
MRECC operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This position is primarily scheduled during administrative hours but requires flexibility to work evenings, overnight hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary to provide training and support employees assigned to all shifts.
