Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an MRB Team Lead to drive planning, tracking, and closure of non-conformance tickets within the MRB/PIE organization. You will supervise a 14+ person outsourced/rotational engineering team and coordinate with Engine Program Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to prioritize slow-moving items and ensure timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience or Master’s with 3+ years; JD/Ph.D. also acceptable.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for eligibility.
  • Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering background preferred.
  • Familiarity with Rolls-Royce Indianapolis MRB processes and apps.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams through complex engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Track, resource, and drive to closure a variety of concessions at various states of the MRB process to ensure resolution in a timely manner
  • Manage and coordinate the 14+ person outsource team, rotational engineers, and on‑loan engineers including metrics
  • Coordinate between PIE, Engine Program Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality organizations to prioritize slow‑moving work‑in‑progress items and ensure focus on delivery is maintained
  • Proactively working with Supply Chain/Purchasing to ensure external suppliers address non‑conformances in a timely and accurate manner
  • Identify system bottlenecks and proactively seek resolution before impacting engine build lines
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain all team KPIs and develop additional metrics based on customer requests
  • Serve as lead for all major engineering support issues like PPRs, on‑going major build stops, and overarching major projects
  • Interface with Engine Program Engineering to ensure impact to our external customers is appropriately minimized by prioritizing manufacturing improvements as required
  • Track, resources, and coordinates Tool Layout (TLO) activities as requested
  • Identify and lead improvement projects to help factories flow

Position Summary:

As an MRB Team Lead, you will function as a Deputy to the MRB Design Tech Lead focusing on the planning, tracking, and closure of key build non‑conformance tickets in the system. You will be responsible for the tracking, resourcing, and closure of both individual concessions and major projects (like PPRs, major supply disruptions, etc.) across both internal and external supply chain as a part of the MRB/Production Improvement Engineering (PIE) team. The leader will manage and monitor the portion of the team that is outsourced to external vendors along with the temporary and rotational engineers (typically 14+ persons total). You will provide design & project engineering support for production parts made by the internal plants and from vendors over a variety of Supply Chain Units (SCUs), resulting in a tangible impact on engine and spares delivery. The team’s primary location is co‑located with operations at the Excellence Building; there you will have the opportunity to see hardware and interface with the manufacturing and assembly teams. The team has embraced hybrid working and there are opportunities to work from other Indianapolis sites and remotely.

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5+ years of experience OR Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience OR JD/Ph.D.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for consideration
Preferred:
  • Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
  • Familiarity with the Rolls‑Royce Indianapolis MRB Web App and general MRB processes
  • Familiarity with Rolls‑Royce Indianapolis Manufacturing and Quality processes
  • Possesses strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills and the ability to work in a high pressure and fast paced environment
  • Experience as a Project or Validation & Verification Engineer on production and/or development programs
  • Experience leading cross‑functional teams through complex engineering challenges.
  • Ability to make sound decisions with limited information
  • Project Management experience in planning, controlling budgets and driving to schedules.
  • Engineering and technical competence, sufficient to enable decision making commensurate with size of package
  • Experience applying Systems approach or equivalent (Robust Design lead, Black belt, etc.)
  • Experience in leading an Engineering team

Pay Range:

Pay ranges for remote employees are based on the state where the employee resides and may vary from the posted range. $122,741 - $199,454‑Annually Location: Indianapolis, IN
