Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Project Engineer for Development Engineering to plan and execute propulsion-system projects within a cross-functional IPT. You’ll manage technical and scheduling needs, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure delivery milestones and budget adherence.

The role requires a engineering degree with design/manufacturing experience; advanced degrees and PMP/Six Sigma credentials are preferred. Relocation assistance is provided where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project technical and schedule needs and lead multi-disciplinary teams across manufacturing, quality, engineering, and purchasing to achieve milestones.
  • Perform WBS cost accounting, integrated planning/scheduling, earned-value assessment, risk management, and continuous improvement tasks.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams to complete project tasks per processes and regulations.
  • Lead global teams to develop component-based and system-level technical solutions.
  • Plan and structure complex multidisciplinary work scopes for design, analysis, and hardware procurement, ensuring requirements compliance.
  • Oversee subcontractors and hardware/sub-systems delivery as defined by IPTL, reporting technical and business results.

Position Summary:

As a JSF Project Engineer, you will be part of a cross-functional team responsible for the delivery of the engineering IPT objectives defined by the program. This is an exciting opportunity as you’ll be planning and executing technical projects for propulsion systems components while having responsibility for maintaining the budget and delivery schedule. In this opportunity, you will get a chance to work within a cross-functional team and be responsible for the delivery objectives of engineering projects and identifies the technical and business requirements for respective projects and coordinates the tasks and resources necessary to deliver to the Program goals and objectives. These projects can include technical design packages and queries in the Production and Sustainment areas of the program as well as Improvement initiatives within New Product Introduction, Cost Reduction, Producibility, Reliability, and Weight reduction.

What you will be doing:
  • Managing project technical and schedule needs and effectively leading multi-disciplinary teams comprised of manufacturing, quality, engineering, and purchasing resources to achieve program delivery milestones
  • Executing WBS cost account management, integrated planning /scheduling, earned-value assessment, risk management and continuous improvement tasks
  • Facilitating multi-disciplinary teams and their completion of project tasks and deliverables in accordance with applicable processes, procedures and regulations
  • Leading global multi-disciplinary teams to develop and define component-based and system-level technical solutions
  • Planning and structuring complex multidisciplinary work scope for design, analysis and hardware procurement, ensuring compliance with requirements
  • Responsible for oversight of subcontractors or subcontracted LiftSystem components and the delivery of hardware and sub-systems equipment as defined by the IPTL Reporting technical and business results of assigned projects
  • Effectively communicating complex technical aero-mechanical projects with program stakeholders
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2+ years of experience in design and/or manufacturing engineering
  • Masters degree in Engineering with 0+ years of experience in design and/or manufacturing engineering
  • PhD in Engineering with 0+ years of experience in design and/or manufacturing engineering

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires US Citizenship

Preferred Requirements:
  • Technical knowledge of turbo-machinery, gas turbine engines, and mechanical systems
  • Trained in project management principles, requirements management, systems engineering, and/or structured verification methods
  • Familiarity with Process Management (i.e APQP) and Manufacturing processes (i.e. Fixed Process Approval, FAIR)
  • PMP Certification
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification

Pay Range Pay ranges for remote employees are based on the state where the employee resides and may vary from the posted range. $94,160 - $153,010-Annually
