Job summary

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis is offering a 10-week Data Analytics Internship in Indianapolis. You will gain hands-on experience building Power BI reports, analyzing data sources, and collaborating across departments.

You''ll work with SQL, Oracle, and Dynamics 365, contribute to data governance, and develop professional skills in a supportive, inclusive environment with a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote) during June to August.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.
• Have completed at least their sophomore year of undergraduate studies.
• Majoring in Business Administration, MIS, Data Analytics, CS, or related fields.
• Basic experience or coursework with Power BI or other data visualization tools, including DAX and Power Query.
• Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
• Experience with SQL, Microsoft Azure, and Fabric is a plus.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and eager to solve problems.

Responsibilities

Are you ready to turn your classroom knowledge into real-world experience? Do you enjoy collaborating with others and working as part of a team? We’re looking for well-rounded, motivated students to join us for a 10-week paid internship where you’ll gain hands-on technical experience in your field of study, opportunities to develop key professional skills, and valuable networking connections to support future career growth. Beyond traditional internship responsibilities, participants join a cohort of 11 interns across multiple departments, engaging in collaborative group activities while also working closely with their assigned teams to build essential technical and professional competencies. Interns must be located in Indianapolis during the duration of the program and be willing to commit to a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office/2 days remote each week.

What You’ll Experience

Our Mortgage Purchase Program (MPP) team provides our members with a competitive secondary market outlet for mortgage loans our members originate. Thus, freeing up their balance sheets to continually fund and support their communities.

As an MPP Data Analytics Intern at FHLBank, you’ll:

• Design and build interactive Power BI reports and dashboards to deliver insights to internal stakeholders.
• Clean, transform, and analyze large datasets from sources such as SQL, Oracle, and Dynamics 365.
• Collaborate with team members and business units to gather requirements and deliver impactful visualizations.
• Perform data validation and troubleshoot existing reports.
• Document processes and contribute to dashboard design and data governance best practices.
• Develop technical skills in SQL and Power BI.
• Apply strong problem-solving and communication skills to collaborate across teams and present analytical results effectively.
• Contribute to meaningful projects that align with your field of study.
• Gain exposure to the finance and banking industry.
• Participate in team-building activities, a group project, a community service event, and professional development sessions (including dining etiquette!).

Who We’re Looking For

• Are actively enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.
• Have completed at least their sophomore year of undergraduate studies.
• Are majoring in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Basic experience or coursework with Power BI or other data visualization tools, including DAX and Power Query.

• Have experience with SQL, Microsoft Azure, and Fabric is a plus.
• Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
