Job summary

Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBank) invites you to apply for our 2027 Summer Internship Program. This 10-week, paid internship offers hands-on technical experience, professional development, and networking within a collaborative intern cohort.

You will work with the Member Analytics and Operations team to support data-driven decisions, build reports and dashboards, and gain exposure to finance, banking, credit, and insurance industries. Hybrid schedule applies.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an undergrad or grad degree program.
• Sophomore year completed or higher is required.
• Majoring in Finance, Data Analytics, Data Science or IS is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are expected.
• Detail-oriented and able to work both independently and in teams.
• Proficiency in Excel; exposure to SQL/Power BI/Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze large datasets to identify trends and insights for decision-making.
• Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using Power BI.
• Reconcile data between systems and streamline processes.
• Use SQL and data visualization to support data-driven initiatives.

Do you enjoy collaborating with others and working as part of a team? If so, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBank) invites you to apply for our 2027 Summer Internship Program!

We’re looking for well-rounded, motivated students to join us for a 10-week paid internship where you’ll gain hands‑on technical experience in your field of study, opportunities to develop key professional skills, and valuable networking connections to support future career growth. Beyond traditional internship responsibilities, participants join a cohort of 11 interns across multiple departments, engaging in collaborative group activities while also working closely with their assigned teams to build essential technical and professional competencies. Interns must be located in Indianapolis during the duration of the program and be willing to commit to a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office/2 days remote each week.

What You’ll Experience

Our Member Analytics and Operations team is responsible for the administration, optimization, and strategic support of core business development platforms. They serve as key liaisons between Sales, Marketing, Operations, Analytics, Information Technology, and other Bank business units to ensure systems effectively support member engagement, relationship management, and data‑driven decision‑making.

As a Business Intelligence Intern At FHLBank, You’ll

• Analyze large datasets to identify trends and generate actionable insights for strategic decision‑making and operational improvements.
• Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using tools like Power BI to communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Perform regular reconciliation tasks between systems and develop methods to streamline and automate those processes.
• Utilize SQL and data visualization techniques to support data‑driven initiatives.
• Apply strong problem‑solving and communication skills to collaborate across teams and present analytical results effectively.
• Contribute to meaningful projects that align with your field of study.
• Gain exposure to finance, banking, credit, and insurance industries.
• Utilize publicly available market and institution data to drive findings about specific market trends regularly, and new trends as they emerge.
• Participate in team‑building activities, a group project, a community service event, and professional development sessions (including dining etiquette!).
  

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking students who:

• Are actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
• Have completed at least their sophomore year of undergraduate studies. Graduate students encouraged to apply!
• Are majoring in Finance, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Data Science, or Information Systems.
• Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
• Work well independently and in team settings.
• Are detail‑oriented, organized, and eager to solve problems.
• Are proficient in Microsoft Excel, preferably with some experience in SQL, Power BI, or Python.
