Job summary

The University of Kansas Medical Center (KU Medical Center) seeks an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences to deliver evidence-based psychological care within a Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders team.

The role includes assessment, treatment, psychoeducation, and triage for mental health needs related to neurological and chronic medical conditions, plus involvement in education and research activities.

Qualifications

• APA- or CPA-accredited doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
• Experience providing psychological services to individuals with chronic medical or neurological conditions is required.
• Completion of an APA-approved clinical internship.
• One year of postdoctoral experience in health psychology.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychological assessment, treatment, psychoeducation, and triage for Parkinson’s disease and related conditions.
• Conduct presurgical psychological evaluations for neurosurgical procedures (DBS).
• Deliver evidence-based CBT and behavioral interventions for chronic illness symptoms.
• Collaborate with neurology, neurosurgery, neuropsychology, dietetics, researchers, social workers, and other team members.
• Educate and mentor learners; participate in teaching, grand rounds, and quality improvement activities.
