Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System invites applications for an Assistant Professor – Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders). This joint appointment with KU Medical Center supports clinical care, education, research, and service missions.

The faculty member provides comprehensive psychological care and participates in teaching, scholarship, and quality improvement within an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an APA- or CPA-accredited program.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in Kansas and Missouri by the time of appointment.
• Completed an APA-approved clinical internship.
• One year (1) of relevant postdoctoral experience in health psychology.
• Experience providing psychological assessment and treatment to individuals with chronic medical or neurological conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychological assessment, treatment, psychoeducation, and triage for patients with Parkinson’s disease, movement disorders, and related mental health concerns.
• Conduct presurgical psychological evaluations for patients preparing for neurosurgical procedures including DBS.
• Provide evidence-based CBT and behavioral interventions addressing physical symptoms and chronic conditions.
• Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists, dietitians, researchers, social workers, and other care team members.
• Contribute to education, training, and mentorship of learners and participate in clinical teaching activities.
