Job summary

Tutor Perini Corporation is seeking a Project Engineer - Mechanical to join our Connecticut River Bridge team at Old Saybrook, CT. You will support the planning, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of movable bridge components, working with project management, superintendents, subcontractors, and design teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 4+ years of experience on heavy civil or bridge projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience on heavy civil, bridge, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with bridge rehabilitation, movable bridges, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical systems, or industrial equipment installation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of movable bridges (bascule, swing, vertical lift).
• Coordinate installation of mechanical equipment (gears, motors, reducers, hydraulic units, cylinders, frames).
• Review drawings, specifications, and submittals for compliance with project requirements.
• Assist with scheduling, procurement tracking, cost control, and subcontractor coordination.
• Monitor field operations to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Participate in inspections, testing, commissioning, and turnover.
