Job summary

H&H's Newark, DE office is seeking a Mechanical Designer to support the design and inspection of movable bridges and tunnels, combining office and field work. You will develop mechanical designs using MicroStation or AutoCAD, perform related calculations, document findings, and coordinate with project managers and the team.

A BS in Mechanical Engineering, willingness to travel, and CAD experience are required; Mathcad is preferred.

Qualifications

• BSME degree required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to travel for short-term assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design and inspection for movable bridges and tunnels.
• Prepare contract plans, provisions, engineer’s estimates, calculations, inspection reports, and technical memoranda.
• Research design options and document findings and recommendations for project managers.
• Develop mechanical designs using MicroStation or AutoCAD.
• Develop machine design calculations for power transmission components.
• Perform a combination of office and field work in support of project assignments.
• Assist with the development and documentation of mechanical design solutions for movable bridge and tunnel systems.
• Support field inspections and document existing conditions and inspection findings.
• Coordinate design information and technical findings with project managers and other members of the project team.
• Assist with technical documentation, calculations, drawings, and project deliverables throughout the design process.
• Apply sound engineering judgment when evaluating design alternatives and developing practical solutions.
• Support project teams with research, technical analysis, and preparation of project documentation.
