Job summary

HDR is a leading engineering firm shaping mobility and infrastructure across the United States. The Bridge Engineer role focuses on applying advanced structural engineering and detailing to bridge designs for highway and rail projects.

You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of planners, engineers, architects, and construction staff. A PE license and several years of bridge design experience are essential to contribute to HDR's employee-owned, collaborative culture and high‑impact projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• PE license required; active status preferred.
• 3+ years in bridge design and related supervision.
• Proficient knowledge of major bridge design software.

Responsibilities

• Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques.
• Design bridges (steel plate girder, prestressed concrete, segmental, cable) and related structures.
• Review work and mentor junior engineers/EITs while ensuring accuracy and safety.
• Coordinate with teams on load calculations and quantity development.
• Perform other duties as needed.
