Program Summary

The Marine Corps Prepositioning Program (MCPP) is based in Jacksonville, Florida. We provide maintenance and logistic services to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in support of this program. For over 35 years we have planned, coordinated, and executed the maintenance and logistic services for ground combat vehicles and support equipment for USMC Expeditionary Forces.

Job Summary

You will plan, organize, and lead day-to-day activities of one or more departmental or functional activities. You will be responsible for implementing training requirements and monitoring employee performance. Establish production standards, monitor compliance, and recommend operational improvements. Assist the manager in accomplishing the short and long-term goals for the department/function.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of mechanics who are performing automotive mechanic duties incident to inspection, all levels of maintenance, and repair of motor transport vehicles.

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of motor transport mechanics engaged in repairing, adjusting, servicing, and storing motor vehicles.

  • Responsible for equipment readiness, maintenance shop organizations, control of maintenance assets and providing advice on all matters relating to motor transport maintenance.

  • Ensure mechanics are properly trained in all maintenance functions.

  • Determines sequence and assignment of work based on work priority and quantity of equipment to obtain optimal use of equipment, facilities, and personnel.

  • Keeps inventory of repair parts and equipment and requisitions replacement stock. Inspects work performed to ensure compliance with specifications and time schedules.

  • Interpret specifications, drawing, work orders, technical instructions, and layouts.

  • Coordinates department activities with other departments.

  • Ensures compliance with administrative policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.

  • Ensures employees adhere to all safety requirements, procedures, and policies.

  • Supervise and manage the administration of workspace for motor transport equipment repair.

  • Recommend changes to procedures as appropriate.

  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all MCPP ISO-9002 policies and procedures.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a U.S. Government background investigation and obtain a NACI. Due to this, you must be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for this position.

  • Associate’s degree and/or course work towards a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering or other related discipline is preferred. In lieu of a degree, a combination of college credits, other formalized training or education, and directly related work experience may be considered.

  • Must have 8 years of directly related work experience including 2 years of supervisory experience in a motor transport environment.

  • Must have completed the motor transport maintenance officer course, or equivalent.

  • Requires the ability to review and apply technical specifications and requirements.

  • The ability to analyze equipment and forecast spare part equipment is required.

  • Must have the ability to analyze maintenance repair or operation to determine methods of improvement.

  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

USMC MOS 3510 or 3529 or Army MOS 91X or 91Z.
