Job summary

Staker Parson Companies is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to safely operate heavy machinery across excavation, grading, and roadway construction projects in our Utah operations. You will load, transport, and place materials, adhering to project plans and safety requirements.

Ideal candidates have high school level education, experience with construction equipment, and the ability to read basic plans. CDL may be preferred, and independence with supervision and teamwork are valued traits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous heavy equipment operating experience in construction, aggregates, paving, mining, or related industries preferred.
• Knowledge of safe equipment operating practices and job site safety requirements.
• Ability to read and understand basic construction plans, grades, and work instructions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, dozers, motor graders, haul trucks, rollers, skid steers, and other construction equipment.
• Perform excavation, grading, backfilling, material placement, stockpiling, and site preparation activities.
• Load and transport materials safely and efficiently.
• Follow grade stakes, project plans, and supervisor instructions to meet project specifications.
• Conduct daily pre- and post-trip equipment inspections.
• Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance or repair needs promptly.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and equipment servicing.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area around equipment and job sites.
• Work closely with supervisors, truck drivers, laborers, and other operators to achieve production goals.
• Follow all company safety policies, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
