Job summary

Australia-Employment in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Motor Controller Hardware Design Engineer to own hardware design from concept through production, focusing on power electronics, PCB design, and motor-control algorithms.

You will work with firmware, systems, manufacturing, and quality teams, creating schematics and Altium layouts while performing analyses and validating designs for production readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience designing motor controller hardware, ideally within automotive, robotics, industrial automation, or another complex electromechanical environment.
• Strong experience with schematic capture and PCB layout, particularly Altium Designer.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop motor controller hardware, from initial concept and architecture through testing and production.
• Partner with system architects and firmware engineers to translate system-level requirements into hardware specifications.
• Create schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer while following sound engineering and design practices.
• Perform electrical, thermal, and EMC analysis and simulation to validate designs and identify potential issues early.
• Build and test prototypes, troubleshoot hardware issues, and drive problems through to resolution.
• Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners on component selection, sourcing, production, and hardware support.
• Collaborate with firmware and software engineers on the integration and validation of motor-control algorithms and interfaces.
• Partner with quality and compliance teams to support regulatory requirements and industry certifications.
• Develop clear technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and engineering reports.
• Stay current with advancements in motor control, power electronics, and hardware design—and bring new ideas to the team.
