Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach is seeking a Mosquito Control Maintenance Worker to join the Mosquito Control Division. You will perform drainage maintenance and pesticide applications to protect community health, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in all weather conditions.

Requirements include a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Registered Technician’s License or Category 8 Pesticide Applicator’s License within six months. Full-time, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Any equivalent combination of experience and training providing required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Preferably six (6) months of experience in labor, maintenance, or construction work.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform drainage maintenance and apply pesticides for mosquito control.
• Remove obstacles from work areas; bush and grade ditches to maintain water runoff; apply larvicide/adulticide per label.
