Fifth Third Bank is seeking a Homeowners Assistance Specialist I - Mortgage in Cincinnati, OH. This role supports borrowers and brokers to mitigate foreclosures, researching options, and coordinating settlements while ensuring compliance with FDCPA and bank policies.

The position requires 2+ years in collections or default servicing, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency in Word/Excel.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years Collections or Default Servicing experience.
Intermediate proficiency level in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Understanding of collections and default servicing practices.
Foreclosure, bankruptcy and REO experience preferred.
Ability to evaluate a customer's situation without judgment.
Excellent customer service skills with both external and internal customers.
Knowledge of FDCPA / Privacy Act / state laws relevant to collection guidelines.

Responsibilities

Analyze borrower's financials, tax returns, credit reports, etc., and recommend best option.
Negotiate and pre-approve workouts.
Prepare settlement documents and forms.
Explain workout options to borrower.
Research accounts and skip trace as needed.
Quote reinstatement amounts and payment plans.
Process foreclosure holds and update records for monthly reporting.
Coordinate with professionals for property inspections and appraisals.
Assist in loss analysis and loan workout recommendations.
Conduct negotiations and ensure compliance with policies.
