The Mortgage Sales Assistant (MSA) is an unlicensed, pre-sales role supporting BSI’s servicing loan retention mortgage call center. The MSA engages potential borrowers through outbound outreach and inbound support, gathers basic information, manages lead follow-up, and connects interested consumers with licensed Loan Officers.
This role provides a strong introduction to mortgage loan origination while helping Loan Officers maximize time spent on licensed sales activities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Engagement:
- Conduct high-volume outbound calls to assigned leads for potential mortgage loan opportunities.
- Support inbound mortgage inquiries when a licensed Loan Officer is unavailable.
- Engage consumers using approved messaging and gather basic information to facilitate connection with a Loan Officer.
- Respond promptly to new leads and inquiries.
- Manage assigned leads through successful transfer, appointment, or final disposition.
- Maintain consistent follow-up with consumers who are not immediately available to speak with a Loan Officer.
Loan Officer Handoff:
- Warm-transfer interested consumers to available licensed Loan Officers
- Schedule Loan Officer appointments when an immediate transfer is unavailable
- Provide accurate notes and information to support a seamless handoff
- Follow up on unsuccessful transfers and missed appointments to reconnect consumers with a Loan Officer.
- Lead & Administrative Management
- Maintain accurate lead status, call dispositions, notes, appointments, and follow-up activities
- Manage assigned lead queues and follow-up schedules.
- Support Loan Officers with lead management and scheduling
- Provide basic portal or application-navigation assistance as needed.
Required Qualification:
- Strong communication, listening, and customer service skills
- Comfortable making high-volume outbound calls and handling inbound consumer inquiries
- Ability to establish rapport and engage consumers by phone
- Strong organization, follow-up, and time-management skills
- Ability to accurately document consumer interactions and manage multiple leads
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
- Ability to learn mortgage terminology, processes, systems, and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Call center, inside sales, customer service, or other consumer-facing experience
- Mortgage, banking, financial services, or consumer lending experience
- Experience with Customer Relationship Manager (CRM), dialer, or lead-management technology.

- Performance is based on activity, consumer engagement, and successful connection to licensed Loan Officers—not borrower qualification or mortgage eligibility.
Key measures include:
- Successful Loan Officer transfers following Right Party Contact (RPC)
- Inbound response and handling
- Lead response time
- Lead follow-up and disposition accuracy
