Job summary

Self-Help is seeking a Quality Control & Document Custody Specialist to join our Durham, NC team. The role emphasizes mortgage processing quality control, document custody, audits, and ensuring compliance with GSE and investor requirements.

You will develop QC testing plans, monitor MERs, support internal audits, and coordinate with Lending, Servicing, Legal, Compliance. Requires 3+ years mortgage-related experience and a Bachelor’s in business/finance or related field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field preferred.
• Mortgage quality control, final documentation/doc custody, and knowledge of GSE quality control and Doc Custody policies required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ability to analyze loan-level data and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage the doc custody program including multiple third-party custodians.
• Complete audits of document custodians.
• Ensure all collateral files contain required documents including a Note, Deed of Trust, and Final Title Policy.
• Certify documents are endorsed and assigned accurately.
• Monitor GSE and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
• Identify and elevate documentation deficiencies to mitigate risk.
• Develop and execute QC testing/review plans and sampling methodology.
• Support internal/external audits and regulatory examinations.
• Coordinate with Lending, Secondary Marketing, Servicing, Legal, Compliance, etc.
