Job summary

Firstsource is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to review loan files, verify documents, and ensure adherence to conventional and government underwriting standards. The role requires manual and automated underwriting experience and strong attention to detail.

The candidate will audit files daily, analyze income/assets, and stay current with agency guidelines, contributing to a multi-client environment while maintaining high quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• College Degree or equivalent work-related experience, and High School Diploma or equivalency required.
• At least 3 years of recent experience in conventional and government underwriting and QA/QC in mortgage banking.
• Experience in QA in a multi-client environment is a plus.
• Strong ability to calculate/verify income & assets, and evaluate credit reports, appraisals, title commitments, and loan docs.

Responsibilities

• Audit a minimum of 8 files per day for credit, collateral, and capacity with 98% accuracy.
• Enter review results into the company’s proprietary software and analyze supporting documents.
• Stay current on agency and federal guidelines; participate in ongoing training.
• Review internal audit results and discuss feedback with team lead/manager.
• Mentor new hires or junior analysts as needed; manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
