Job summary

Vermont Federal Credit Union is seeking a Mortgage Originator at our South Burlington Branch to generate loan applications for purchases and refinances. You will manage the loan process from origination to closing, keeping members and partners informed throughout.

You will build relationships, stay current on VHFA/VA programs, and engage in community events to promote homeownership. The role requires mortgage/real estate experience and strong communication skills; occasional evenings or weekends

Qualifications

Two years’ experience in mortgage banking or real estate.
Ability to learn and work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong planning, time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Generate applications for the purchase and refinance of home loans that meet or exceed production goals.
Oversee the real estate loan process from origination through closing with ongoing updates to members, agents and partners.
Participate in community efforts and seminars to promote mortgage financing and homeownership.
Build and maintain industry relationships that lead to external loan production.
Maintain knowledge of lending programs, compliance, policies and procedures including VA, VHFA, and Conventional Loans.
Interact with loan processors, underwriters, and closers to improve approval times and member satisfaction.
