Job summary

Citizens National Bank is seeking a Mortgage Originator to identify, develop, and maintain a quality network of referral sources for mortgage lending opportunities. You will build relationships with real estate professionals, builders, and other referrals.

Responsibilities include prospecting, processing applications, evaluating loan requests, maintaining client contact, and meeting a monthly production target. Travel may be required; strong communication and Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED and either Associate’s Degree or 4 years of related experience.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and other necessary software for efficiency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build relationships.

Responsibilities

• Prospect for new mortgage lending opportunities through referrals and networking.
• Responds to referrals and maximizes productivity through self-marketing and goal alignment.
• Completes mortgage applications for submission to loan processing and underwriting.
• Evaluates loan requests, analyzes financial data and determines qualification of collateral and customer credit history.
• Maintains contact with loan customers, providing progress updates and requesting documentation.
• Expands knowledge of new loan programs and products and participates in development opportunities.
• Manages an assigned portfolio of loans and relationships and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Travel is expected for this position.

The Mortgage Originator is responsible for continually identifying, developing and maintaining a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. A Mortgage Originator’s network may consist of real estate professionals, builders, professional and personal contacts, as well as other valuable referral sources, and is enhanced by the mortgage loan officer’s regular participation in business related development opportunities & community efforts.

Primary Functions

• Prospects for new mortgage lending opportunities, both internally and externally.
• Responds to referrals.
• Maximizes personal productivity. Has the desire to maximize personal productivity through self-marketing, self-motivation and bank budget goals.
• Dedicates time developing (prospecting/hunting) a network of referral source relationships of realtors, builders and others that can refer those with mortgage financing needs.
• Completes mortgage applications for submission to the loan processing and underwriting departments.
• Evaluates loan requests, analyzes financial data and determines qualification of collateral and customer credit history.
• Maintains contact with loan customers, communicating progress of loan and obtaining any required documentation.
• Actively participates in opportunities to expand knowledge of new loan programs/types, investor specials and other mortgage financial products.
• Manages all aspects of an assigned portfolio of loans and relationships.
• Complies with acceptable lending practices and state and federal regulations.
• Handles customer service matters and inquiries for lending and non-lending issues.
• Monthly production volume of $600,000.

Secondary Functions

• Participates in community activities and organizations.
• Refers appropriate banking opportunities to other departments and personnel.
• Cross sells all company products and services.

Generally, this position does not have direct supervisory responsibility. May play a role in prioritizing the work load for a number of support positions including processors.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
