Job summary

Carter Bankshares is seeking a Mortgage Loan Assistant in Fredericksburg, VA, to support the loan origination process and collaborate with Mortgage Loan Originators and pipeline delivery to ensure a smooth mortgage transaction.

The role requires knowledge of mortgage guidelines, compliance with ECOA/HMDA deadlines, and a balance of sales-minded and operational duties to deliver exceptional client experiences.

Qualifications

• Intermediate written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate understanding of federal and state laws and regulations related to mortgage lending.
• Intermediate knowledge of mortgage guidelines, pricing, policies, and procedures.
• Intermediate knowledge of bank products and services.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Intermediate proficiency with lending software.
• Intermediate organizational skills.
• Intermediate adaptability skills.
• Basic analysis skills.
• Basic understanding of credit underwriting guidelines.
• Basic understanding of financial documents.

Responsibilities

• Review the initial loan application, supporting documentation, and credit authorization for accuracy and completion with the customer.
• Keep current understanding of all loan program guidelines, pricing, policies and procedures.
• Provide weekly status updates of files in progress to MLO, Referral Partner and Client.
• Process borrower documents in an accurate and timely manner following proper internal protocol and procedures.
• Communicate and partner closely with operations to ensure a smooth and accurate loan process.
• Provide some back up support for Mortgage Loan Originators who are out of the office.
• Perform post-closing follow up with clients to answer any questions regarding first payments and servicing.
• Assist with monitoring pipelines for key target dates to ensure deadlines and objectives are met.
• Provide assistance in monitoring information for HMDA/Adverse Action related reporting.
• Assist with identifying relevant bank products and services based on customer needs.
• Serve as an ongoing support point of contact for Mortgage Loan Originators and Pipeline Delivery Manager by performing various duties as assigned to maintain an exceptional client experience.
