Base pay range

$55,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr

Position Summary

MortgagePros is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Mortgage Licensing Specialist to oversee and manage individual licensing for mortgage loan originators across multiple states. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, maintaining timely license renewals, and supporting onboarding and expansion efforts. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience using the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS), a solid understanding of licensing procedures, and a proactive approach to regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full lifecycle of individual mortgage licensing across more than 35 states via NMLS
  • Coordinate and schedule pre-licensing exams, application submissions, and sponsorship updates
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for licensing-related inquiries from internal teams (e.g., Compliance, HR, Onboarding)
  • Communicate directly with state regulators to resolve outstanding issues, clarify requirements, and respond to license conditions
  • Track licensing renewals, expirations, and deadlines using Salesforce and related systems
  • Collaborate with third-party education providers to enroll MLOs in required pre-licensing and continuing education courses
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency, accuracy, and compliance of the licensing function
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal mortgage licensing laws and regulatory changes
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a mortgage licensing, compliance, or regulatory support role
  • Strong working knowledge of state licensing laws and NMLS procedures
  • Familiarity with mortgage origination workflows and licensing processes
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail and a self-directed approach to managing work
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable liaising with regulatory agencies
  • Must be available to work on-site at MortgagePros’ Troy, MI office
