Job summary

Texas Tech Federal Credit Union in Amarillo, TX is seeking a Mortgage Lending Assistant to support Mortgage Loan Officers with file processing, documentation, and customer service. The role focuses on building community relationships and ensuring a smooth mortgage experience for members.

The MLA will assist with pipeline management, disclosures, and coordination across processing, underwriting, and closing stages, while maintaining TTCU standards of excellence.

Qualifications

• Previous mortgage loan experience preferred

• Possesses ability to analyze loan based on agency guidelines
• Knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac AUS systems
• Ability to calculate income for W2 and Self-Employed Borrowers
• Previous EllieMae Encompass preferred
• Superior customer service skills with timely real-time updates
• Working knowledge of industry regulatory requirements and loan products
• Familiarity with underwriting requirements and loan products

Responsibilities

• Serve TTCU members and co-workers professionally according to TTCU values
• Answer inquiries in-person, online, or by phone
• Review applications and request additional information via nCino/email/phone/text
• Collaborate with Mortgage Production Support to complete and verify applications
• Assist Mortgage Loan Officers with pipeline management from processing to funding
• Move loan files through processing, underwriting, closing, and purchasing
• Assist with loan disclosures after contract execution
• Run AUS with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to verify approval
• Attend marketing and business development activities with realtors and referral partners
• Support loan conditions after underwriting by contacting borrowers for documentation

The Mortgage Lending Assistant (MLA) role is designed to provide a variety of administrative services and business development activities for his/her assigned Mortgage Loan Officer(s). This partnership allows the Mortgage Lending Officer (MLO) to cultivate community relationships, manage the file workflow, and provide a seamless mortgage loan process for all members. The true value of the MLA role rests in the incumbent’s ability to create bandwidth and opportunity for the mortgage lending team to help more families experience homeownership.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Serve TTCU members and co-workers pleasantly and professionally in accordance with TTCU core values of Trust, Respect, Excellence, Kindness, and Stewardship.
• Answer member inquiries, complaints, and concerns in a timely, effective, and kind manner whether received in-person, online, or by telephone.
• Review applications and request any additional information and/or documentation needed via nCino and email, phone, text when necessary to have a completed application before collaborating with our Mortgage Production Support Supervisor and Mortgage Production Support Team.
• Collaborate with our Mortgage Production Support Supervisor to ensure all applications are completed and verified.
• Assist with managing Mortgage Loan Officers Pipeline including current loans and prospects.
• Assist assigned Mortgage Loan Officer with all activities needed to move the loan file through processing, underwriting, closing, funding, and purchasing. Also to assist with ensuring the member experience lives up to TTCU standards of excellence.
• Assist the mortgage production support team with all loan conditions after loan is underwritten by contacting borrowers and requesting all documentation needed using nCino to complete the file for closing.
• Run AUS with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to verify approval
• Attend and participate in marketing and business development activities with realtors and other referral partners.
• Assists with preparing and delivering all required loan disclosures promptly after the purchase contract is executed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory guidelines.

• Working knowledge or familiarity with underwriting requirements, loan products, (agency, FHA, and VA preferred)
• Established presence in the community is preferred to help support Loan Officer in marketing efforts.
