Job Description & Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with tracking and monitoring of emerging issues and trends in mortgage servicing regulations.
  • Maintain change management tracking for compliance-related items, including regulatory and investor guideline changes, policy and procedure updates, and process or system changes; monitor implementation through completion and confirm that affected controls are updated.
  • Assist with drafting responses to licensing examinations and inquiries from regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with preparing compliance reports for senior management and regulators.
  • Monitor, handle and/or review responses to complaints relative to federal and state laws, regulations, policies, procedures.
  • Conduct trend analysis of firm and subservicer complaint volume, categories, and root causes; identify emerging risks and report findings and recommended actions to management.
  • Support onboarding, auditing, and oversight of mortgage servicers engaged by the firm
  • Coordinate with internal resources regularly on possible changes to processes/controls and/or systems to add value and/or to remediate identified process/control gaps.
  • Ensure that compliance issues or concerns within the organization and its business partners are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Draft and fulfill documentation requests as needed
  • Conduct periodic screening of employees, subservicers, and other third parties performing servicing or quality control functions against the Freddie Mac Exclusionary List and the FHFA Suspended Counterparty Program list.
  • Monitor subservicer sanctions screening practices, including confirmation that screening scope and parameters reflect current OFAC sanctions programs.
  • Review subservicer audit reports, management information, and self-identified compliance failures; track remediation through closure.
  • Support the preparation and periodic refresh of compliance risk assessments
  • Coordinate and track completion of annual compliance training.
  • Maintain compliance policy documentation, including version control, periodic review cycles, and records of review and approval.
  • Perform monitoring and oversight activities as a second-line function.
  • Licensing
  • Manage licensing process in conjunction with third party vendors
  • Follow up on any pending and deficient license terms.
  • As needed, research federal and state licensing requirements,
  • Coordinate and track applicable education and training courses
  • Prioritize and complete licensing tasks by state imposed licensing deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to mortgage servicing
  • Ability to develop knowledge of state and federal regulatory compliance guidelines in the mortgage industry
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Implement and manage an internal vendor management program
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 5 years experience working in mortgage banking or compliance
  • Experience in the Mortgage industry preferred
  • Experience with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) strongly preferred
