Job summary

Community Financial System, Inc. (CFSI) via Community Bank, N.A. seeks a Collections Specialist to serve the Consumer Real Estate portfolio.

You will work to reduce mortgage delinquencies, contact borrowers, and apply payments in line with investor guidelines across multiple programs. You must be able to communicate professionally by phone and mail, comply with FDCPA, RESPA and other regulations, and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience in collections is highly preferred.
• Mortgage loan processing experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Work and maintain past due portfolio consumer real estate loans to reduce mortgage delinquency, apply funds to delinquent accounts, and determine need for appropriate assistance based on communications by telephone, written, or on an isolated occasion in person.
• Collect past due portfolio consumer real estate loans by telephone, or on an isolated occasion in person.
• Collect past due secondary market and guarantor mortgages by telephone and written communication according to investor guidelines. May meet with past due borrower in person.
• Handle inbound and outbound collection calls professionally and efficiently.
• Prepare and mail notifications to delinquent borrowers per investor, guarantor, state, insurer, or bank guidelines.
• Utilize collections module to document all collection efforts maintaining accurate records.
• Comply with applicable regulations including the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, and other relevant laws.
• Maintain knowledge of bankruptcy laws/regulations to ensure accounts are handled properly.
• Adhere to policies, procedures and internal controls; complete training in a timely manner.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
