Job summary

American Equity Investment Life Insurance Company, headquartered in Des Moines, seeks a Real Estate Mortgage Analyst to support commercial mortgage loan origination and portfolio management.

You will work with Mortgage Originators to underwrite loan structures, analyze cash flows and rent rolls, and monitor the loan portfolio. Responsibilities include preparing underwriting materials, maintaining records, and coordinating closing activities. Travel up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or related field.
• Minimum of three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.
• Knowledge of commercial real estate property types and loan structures.

Responsibilities

• Analyze mortgage loan requests through loan packages, cash flows, rent rolls, collateral quality, and sponsor strength.
• Underwrite and recommend loan structures and terms for originators.
• Participate in underwriting and transaction management of commercial mortgage opportunities.
• Gather economic and market data; maintain pipeline and records.
• Support closing with third‑party reports and due diligence items.
• Assist in portfolio management and loan workouts as needed.
