Job summary

Compass Group USA is hiring a full-time Sous Chef at the Stryker Medical Building in Portage, MI. The role requires previous cooking experience and will follow a Monday–Friday schedule from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with potential variation for events.

Pay ranges from $18.00 to $21.00 per hour, and catering experience is preferred. The position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced kitchen and join a team focused on quality dining for clients.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience required.
• Catering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and disciplinary actions as appropriate.
• Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils; keeps workstation clean.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Demonstrates understanding of daily menu items and explains them to associates and customers.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries; informs supervisor when supplies are low.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
