Job summary

La Costa Glen in Carlsbad is seeking an experienced Pastry Cook to join our culinary team. You will assist the Pastry Chef in producing quality desserts and pastries for all dining rooms across the community, bringing creativity and consistency to our dessert program.

This full-time role covers 6:00am–2:30pm, with competitive pay and opportunities for growth. You will work in a busy kitchen, keep stations clean, follow safety standards, and collaborate to develop new dessert specials.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years experience as a pastry cook or baker in a hotel, restaurant, club or similar institution.
• Ability to plan and organize work, interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance; knowledge of nutrition and diet.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quality desserts and pastries per standardized recipes.
• Collaborate with pastry chef to create new dessert specials.
• Plan production to coordinate with meal serving hours and determine amounts needed.
• Follow safety procedures and sanitation standards.
• Ensure inventory procedures; inform kitchen manager when stock runs low.
• Deliver desserts to other campus locations using delivery carts.
• Maintain a lean, orderly cooking station.
• Assist in training new kitchen staff.
• Assist pastry chef in other duties as assigned.
