Job summary

First Alert 7 / KOSA in Odessa‑Midland, TX, seeks a Morning/Midday News Anchor to join our news team. You will anchor morning and midday newscasts on both broadcast and streaming channels, delivering stories across platforms.

The ideal candidate has on‑camera anchoring experience and a passion for storytelling on broadcast, streaming, online, and social channels. Salary will be based on experience, with opportunities to grow alongside a strong local news brand.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication or related field; two years of comparable journalism experience acceptable.
Demonstrable on‑camera performance and anchoring experience.
Strong writing, videography and editing following AP and broadcast style.
Knowledge of local, regional, national and international current events.
Current driver’s license with clean driving record.
Experience with newsroom software such as ENPS, VizRT, Edius and BitCentral is preferred.

Responsibilities

Anchor morning and midday newscasts on broadcast and streaming channels.
Collaborate with MMJs, producers and digital content teams for cross‑platform content.
Monitor breaking news and utilize resources to cover regional, national, and international stories.
Contribute to audience growth through research and multiplatform storytelling.
Edit copy with attention to journalistic standards and legal guidelines.
Work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
