Job summary

Diocese of St. Augustine is seeking a part-time VPK Early Learning Assistant Teacher for St. Clare Early Learning Center in Yulee, Florida. The role supports the lead teacher in providing a warm, nurturing, and educational environment for young children.

The assistant helps with daily lesson plans, health checks, family communications, and inclusive activities that foster cognitive, language, social, and physical development. On-site position with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• DCF 45-hour training preferred or to be started within 30 days of hire.
• Prior experience in a child care setting preferred.
• Knowledge of child growth and development for birth to 5 years.
• Must pass criminal background check prior to employment and every five years; TB screening and Protecting God’s Children may be required.
• Infant & Child First Aid/CPR certification to be completed within 6 months of hire.
• Must complete 35 hours of in-service training each fiscal year.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
• Assist in planning and implementing daily lesson plans based on approved curriculum.
• Assist in health checks and daily routines to promote safety and well-being.
• Attend parent meetings and communicate child progress to families.
• Maintain sanitation and safety in the classroom and center.
