Job summary

Hy-Vee is hiring a Coffee Shop Barista to greet customers, craft beverages, keep the shop stocked, and ensure every guest leaves with what they came for and a smile. You’ll work in a fast-paced coffee shop, learning on the job with full training and support from store leadership.

Responsibilities include taking orders, preparing drinks, maintaining cleanliness, handling payments, and collaborating with teammates to deliver excellent service. Evening or weekend shifts may vary.

Qualifications

• Follow written and verbal instructions with confidence.
• Use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
• Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way.
• Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop environment.
• Less than a high school diploma or equivalent accepted; up to six months of similar or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one.
• Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and assist with finding products and answering questions.
• Prepare and replenish coffee shop products as needed throughout your shift.
• Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list to stay ahead of daily needs.
• Handle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and up to department standards at all times.
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed.
• Run the department register and process payments where applicable.
• Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
• Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer.
• Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards and all company policies.
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
