Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a friendly Barista to greet customers, craft beverages, and keep the coffee shop stocked and inviting. You will ensure each guest receives exactly what they came in for, with a smile to match the service.

This role requires strong customer service, teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Training and safety guidelines will be provided to support your success.

Qualifications

• Follow written and verbal instructions with confidence.
• Use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
• Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way.
• Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop environment.
• Less than a high school diploma or equivalent accepted; up to six months of similar or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and take orders at the counter or over the phone.
• Assist customers in finding products and answer questions.
• Prepare and replenish coffee shop products as needed during your shift.
• Monitor product freshness and appearance; follow a production list.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work area per department standards.
• Check in product, rotate stock, and review invoices as needed.
• Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
• Remove trash promptly and keep the department tidy.
• Work with teammates to ensure a smooth, positive customer experience.
• Adhere to Hy-Vee dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
