Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a MOPS Automation SW Dev Engineer to develop, automate, and maintain mission operations processes and tools for the satellite constellation. The role emphasizes scripting, automation, and scalable SOC operations.

The candidate will work with engineers across flight software, ground software, and external vendors to implement automated procedures, telemetry validation, and operator interfaces, while supporting LEOP and on-orbit activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, or Math (STEM).
• 2–5+ years in mission operations, software development, or automation roles.
• Experience scripting operational procedures or automation workflows (Python or similar).
• Familiarity with satellite command/control operations and mission workflows.
• Comfortable in a Windows development and operations environment.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Git, Jira, and Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evolve mission operations processes and concepts of operations (ConOps) across all mission phases.
• Script and automate satellite command and control procedures using Python and similar languages.
• Develop telemetry validation logic and checks to support automated and manual operations.
• Interface with internal/external APIs to integrate SOC workflows and tools.
• Build and maintain mission operations tools, dashboards, and operator UIs.
• Support system-level integration tests and end-to-end testing between SOC and satellite.
