Job summary

American Montessori Academy in Livonia/Westland is seeking a dedicated Full Time Preschool Aide to support the GSRP. The aide will assist teachers in creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment, helping children grow socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, experience with young children, knowledge of child development, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in early childhood education preferred.
• Experience with young children in education or childcare settings is desirable.
• Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for families and staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety standards in early childhood settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children in daily activities, meals, and rest periods in a safe environment.
• Help maintain a clean and organized classroom and prepare materials.
• Collaborate with teachers to assess and document children's progress through observations.
• Foster positive relationships with children and encourage participation.
• Communicate with parents about children's progress and activities as needed.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development as required.
• Provide instructional assistance under supervision and offer small group support.
• Ensure regular and predictable attendance and flexible to program needs.
