Job summary

American Montessori Academy in Livonia/Westland is seeking a dedicated Full Time Preschool Aide to support the GSRP. The aide will assist teachers in creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment, helping children grow socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, experience with young children, knowledge of child development, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in early childhood education preferred.
  • Experience with young children in education or childcare settings is desirable.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for families and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety standards in early childhood settings.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Preschool Aide to support the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) in providing high-quality early childhood education. The ideal candidate will assist teachers in creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. The GSRP Aide will work closely with the teaching staff to enhance children's educational experiences and promote their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
  • Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities that align with GSRP curriculum standards.

  • Support children in their daily activities, including play, meals, and rest periods, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.

  • Help maintain a clean and organized classroom, including preparing materials and setting up activities.

  • Collaborate with teachers to assess and document children's growth and progress through observations and informal assessments.

  • Foster positive relationships with children and encourage their participation and engagement in classroom activities.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about children's progress and classroom activities, as needed.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required.

  • Provide instructional assistance under the supervision of the classroom Teacher.

  • Provide individual and small group instruction.

  • Regular and predictable attendance.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the lead teacher or program coordinator.

Cognitive Demands:
  • Supervise multiple students at once

  • Provide instructional assistance to students in an individual or small group setting

  • Ability to maintain a safe and orderly environment for students

  • Participate in continuous professional development

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands:
  • Occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds

  • Stand and walk frequently

  • Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year

  • Assist/lift students if necessary

  • Withstand a moderate noise level

Qualifications
