Job description

Grow Montessori School is looking to expand our team! We are seeking passionate individuals to join our dynamic and inclusive learning community. We are a nonprofit school committed to economic access, cultural diversity, and community empowerment. Located in Atlanta's Historic Westside, we strive to create an affirming learning community where children are respected as individuals, families are valued as partners, and every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

We are seeking an experienced, thoughtful, and dedicated early childhood educator to join our team. The ideal candidate has substantial experience working with infants, a deep respect for young children, and a commitment to building lasting relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

We are looking for a full-time Infant Lead Teacher who shares Grow’s commitment to:

  • Equity and inclusion: Honoring children's identities, cultures, and individual needs.
  • Holistic development: Respecting each child's physical, psychological, and socio-emotional development.
  • Montessori principles: Supporting independence, freedom of movement, sensorimotor experiences, and purposeful exploration.
  • Community empowerment: Expanding access to quality Montessori education and strengthening relationships with families in Atlanta's Historic Westside.
Summary:

As a Montessori Lead Guide, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children ages 6 weeks through 18 months.

Montessori experience is preferred, but not required. An eagerness to learn about the Montessori method is essential. Your previous childcare experience will contribute to the effective implementation and learning of the Montessori principles at this important developmental age.

Qualifications:
  • Substantial experience working with infants.
  • Understanding of infant development and developmentally appropriate caregiving.
  • Commitment to supporting children's independence and concentration.
  • Willingness to participate in meaningful ongoing professional development and to receive feedback.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication skills with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Dependability and a commitment to consistency and continuity of care.
  • Strong references from previous employers.
  • Knowledge of cultural curriculum development.

The Infant classroom should not be designed around what is simply aesthetic, but around what is purposeful, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate. Every material and area should serve a clear intention and reflect the needs of the children. The Infant environment is thoughtfully prepared for and truly belongs to the child, with the teacher using their knowledge and observations to ensure that the space evolves alongside the children it serves.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain a safe, orderly, and developmentally appropriate environment and schedule aligned with the Montessori philosophy.
  • Use observations of the children to inform caregiving and classroom preparation.
  • Provide responsive care during feeding, diapering, rest, and other daily routines.
  • Support children's emerging independence, movement, communication, and exploration.
  • Communicate with families about children's activities and development through Brightwheel and in-person conversations or conferences.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet children’s needs.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and health and safety practices.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, family events, and other school activities as appropriate.
