Job summary

The Discovery School is seeking an Aftercare Associate Teacher to support Montessori/IB-based programming and supervise the aftercare environment. The role emphasizes safety, relationship-building, and collaborative communication with the Aftercare Coordinator and Lead Teacher.

This is a 10-month, part-time position following the school year calendar with hours 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm on school days and additional hours as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s in Education is a bonus but not required.
• Experience with or willingness to learn Montessori/IB approaches is preferred.
• Comfort with using technology as a learning tool.
• Ability to engage differentiated instruction for reading/writing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and well-being of children in care in classrooms and playground.
• Model respectful, curious, and responsible behavior; create a peaceful aftercare environment.
• Prepare and clean environments for various age groups (Toddler to Elementary/Middle).
• Communicate with Aftercare Coordinator and Lead Teacher; report incidents promptly.
• Supervise and assist with snack/lunch, diapering/toileting as needed; manage arrivals/dismissals.
