Job summary

Lake Country School in Minneapolis is seeking a full‑time Children's House Support & PE Assistant to support the Children's House level in the morning and lead PE in the afternoon. This role blends classroom assistance with active physical education leadership in a Montessori environment.

You will supervise transitions, assist with lunch and recess, and help prepare materials, while partnering with the PE Guide to align curriculum and activities for a range of ages.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Coursework or experience in early childhood education, Montessori philosophy, physical education, or a related field preferred.
• Prior experience working with children ages 3 to 12 in a classroom, camp, or recreational setting preferred.
• Eligibility for Minnesota DHS background study clearance.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Comfort leading active indoor and outdoor games across a range of ages and physical abilities.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, move, and actively supervise play for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Support the Children's House Level: supervise bathrooms and hallway during transitions.
• Support lunch and recess for the ChildrenHouse level each morning.
• Model warm, respectful interactions and maintain a calm classroom environment.
• Communicate expectations to children directly and consistently.
• Prepare materials based on the needs of the Children's House Guides.
• Assist Afternoon PE: align curriculum, goals, and program structure.
• Assist students requiring additional physical or behavioral support.
• Supervise student transitions and encourage teamwork.
