Jay's CD And Hobby in Des Moines, IA is seeking a full-time bartender to join a busy beer and gaming venue. You will pour drafts and cocktails, check IDs, and serve guests quickly while keeping the bar inviting and efficient.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing

• Pour draft and bottled beer, mix cocktails, and serve consistently and quickly
• Check IDs and practice responsible alcohol service, every time, no exceptions
• Open and close the bar: stock coolers, change kegs, cut fruit, prep garnishes, count drawer
• Run POS, manage tabs, handle cash and card transactions accurately
• Take food orders and run them to the kitchen; deliver plates and check back on guests
• Keep glassware, bar top, taps, wells, and coolers clean throughout the shift
• Help guests with game cards, tokens, and general 'how does this work' questions
• Keep an eye on the room - read the crowd, spot problems early, help keep the night friendly
• Restock inventory, assist with counts, and flag what's running low
• Work events, tournaments, and private parties, including setup and teardown

What we're looking for

• Bartending or high-volume service experience preferred
• Genuinely enjoys talking to people - this is a social room and it shows when someone doesn't
• Steady under pressure with a full bar and a line three deep
• Must be at least legally able to serve alcohol in Iowa
• Available nights and weekends, including late closes
• Responsible alcohol service certification a plus; we'll help you get certified if needed
• Able to stand for a full shift and lift up to 50 lbs (kegs, cases, ice)
