Job summary

Jay's CD And Hobby in Des Moines, IA is seeking a full-time bartender to join a busy beer and gaming venue. You will pour drafts and cocktails, check IDs, and serve guests quickly while keeping the bar inviting and efficient.

This role requires staying calm under pressure, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working nights/weekends. Certification in responsible alcohol service is a plus, and we support certification if needed.

Qualifications

• Experience bartending or high-volume service preferred.
• Excellent communication and social skills.
• Able to stay calm under pressure in a busy bar.
• Legal to serve alcohol in Iowa.
• Available nights and weekends, including late closes.
• Certifications in responsible alcohol service a plus.

Responsibilities

• Pour draft and bottled beer, mix cocktails, and serve quickly.
• Check IDs and ensure responsible alcohol service.
• Open/close the bar: stock, kegs, fruit, garnishes, drawer counts.
• Run POS, manage tabs, handle cash and card transactions.
• Take food orders and deliver to kitchen; check back with guests.
• Keep glassware, bar top, taps, wells, and coolers clean.
• Assist guests with game cards, tokens, questions.
• Monitor the room, read crowd, keep night friendly.
• Restock inventory and assist counts.
• Work events, tournaments, and private parties including setup.
