Job summary

AdventHealth in Land O' Lakes, FL is seeking a Monitor Technician to support the patient care team by transcribing orders, monitoring patient status, and communicating with physicians and staff.

The role requires knowledge of medical terminology, EKG proficiency, CPR, and good computer skills; a High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with Monitor Technician training preferred. This is a full-time, day-shift, on-site position at the Florida facility.

• Accesses medication room to place meds securely upon arrival.
• Performs indirect patient care duties related to admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Posts pertinent patient data timely; responds in emergencies; collaborates with team.

Job Description:

• Identifies, prioritizes, and transcribes all types of physician orders by completing the patient Kardex, proper care map, and making necessary requisitions.
• Notifies and calls other departments or physicians when necessary and places appropriate information on the chart, chart forms, computer, and electronic record.
• Accesses the medication room to place meds in a secure area upon medication arrival to the floor.
• Performs indirect patient care duties related to admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Posts pertinent patient data timely.
• Responds appropriately in emergency situations.
• Interacts with patients appropriate to age, acuity, and culture.
• Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities and accurately documents and monitors activities as needed.
• Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Sufficient knowledge of English and spelling to perform various non-clinical duties. [Required]
