Job summary

AdventHealth Land O Lakes is seeking a Monitor Technician to support patient care on the unit. You will monitor patient data, transcribe orders, and coordinate with nursing staff to ensure timely and accurate records.

The role requires basic computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to work well in a team. Training and benefits are provided, including day-one PTO and health coverage.

Qualifications

• Monitor technician experience or completion of a Monitor Technician training program.
• Proficiency in EKG and CPR required.
• Strong medical terminology and basic computer skills.
• Ability to communicate in English and collaborate with the team.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, prioritizes, and transcribes physician orders via Kardex and care map.
• Notifies departments or physicians and records information on charts and EHR.
• Accesses medication room to place meds in a secure area on arrival.
• Performs indirect patient care related to admission, transfer and discharge.
• Posts pertinent patient data in a timely manner.
• Responds appropriately in emergencies and supports patient safety.
• Interacts with patients by age, acuity and culture.
• Contributes to quality initiatives and documents activities.

Job Description:

• Identifies, prioritizes, and transcribes all types of physician orders by completing the patient Kardex, proper care map, and making necessary requisitions.
• Notifies and calls other departments or physicians when necessary and places appropriate information on the chart, chart forms, computer, and electronic record.
• Accesses the medication room to place meds in a secure area upon medication arrival to the floor.
• Performs indirect patient care duties related to admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Posts pertinent patient data timely.
• Responds appropriately in emergency situations.
• Interacts with patients appropriate to age, acuity, and culture.
• Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities and accurately documents and monitors activities as needed.
• Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• National Association Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) [Preferred]
