Job summary

AdventHealth Palm Coast seeks a Patient Care Technician to deliver quality patient care in the telemetry unit. You will support registered nurses, monitor patients, and help with daily activities in a compassionate, respectful environment.

This role requires a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and the ability to read and follow instructions. Telemetry or medical office experience is preferred, with BLS certification encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Technical or vocational training is preferred.
• 1+ applicable PCT experience required.
• Medical office experience preferred.
• Previous telemetry experience preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications as listed in the ad.

Responsibilities

• Delivers quality patient care including basic hygiene and safety.
• Reports patient changes to the registered nurse promptly.
• Uses clinical strategies to ensure patient and associate safety.
• Documents vital signs, input/output, nutrition, hygiene, weights and care.
• Monitors cardiac rhythm and notifies the nurse of life-threatening arrhythmias.
• Responds to monitor alarms per policy.
• Maintains organized EKG records and files reports.
• Manages telemetry supplies inventory.
• Uses computer systems to access data and enter charges.
• Provides person-centered care with respect.
• Assists with delegated patient care tasks under RN supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

• Delivers quality patient care, including comfort and hygiene measures, preventative skin care, safety measures, transport, and nutritional and elimination needs.

• Reports observed patient changes and needs to the registered nurse accurately and in a timely manner.

• Demonstrates effective use of clinical strategies to ensure patient and associate safety.

• Communicates concerns regarding hazards or errors related to patients to the healthcare team using appropriate communication techniques.

• Documents vital signs, input/output, nutritional intake, personal hygiene, weights, and other patient care performed, and reports findings promptly to the registered nurse.

• Monitors and documents patient’s cardiac rhythm, recognizing and notifying the registered nurse immediately when life-threatening arrhythmias occur.

• Responds promptly to all monitor alarms according to department/hospital policy and ensures the central monitor is never left unattended.

• Maintains patient EKG records in a systematic, organized fashion and files EKG reports onto charts as needed.

• Organizes inventory and replacement of telemetry supplies, ensuring inventory is maintained appropriately.

• Utilizes computer technology to access and exchange data, maintain non-electronic patient records, and input daily and special charges as requested.

• Provides person-centered care with sensitivity and respect.

• Assists with safe and appropriate delegated patient care tasks under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
