Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Monitor Technician to observe and interpret patients’ heart rhythms using telemetry equipment at St. Joseph Medical Center– Kansas City, MO.

You will play a vital role in identifying abnormalities and alerting the medical team to changes in cardiac status. The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, Dysrhythmia Interpretation, BLS certification, and at least six months of healthcare or Monitor Technician experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire.
• BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire.
• Six months healthcare or Monitor Technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret heart rhythms (ECG/EKG) on telemetry monitors.
• Recognize normal and abnormal cardiac patterns and document findings.
• Notify nurses or physicians of significant rhythm or vital sign changes and escalate critical issues immediately.
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot telemetry equipment and electrodes.
• Ensure proper signal transmission and resolve issues with poor connections or faulty equipment.
• Record telemetry readings in the medical record and generate rhythm strips for review.

Location:St. Joseph Medical Center– Kansas City, MO

We are seeking aMonitor Technician,sometimes referred to asourTelemetry Monitor Technician(Tech) or Tele Monitor Tech. A Tele Monitor Tech willberesponsible forobservingand interpreting patients’ heart rhythms and other vital data transmitted by telemetry equipment. This role is crucial foridentifyingand alerting the medical team to any abnormalities or critical changes in a patient’s cardiac or health status. The Monitor Technician detects early warning signs of cardiac events, ensuringtimelyintervention, and improving patient outcomes in our telemetry unit.

Responsibilities

• Cardiac monitoring,observeand interpret heart rhythms (ECG/EKG) displayed on telemetry monitors

• Recognize normal and abnormal cardiac patterns, such as arrhythmias, and document findings

• Notify nurses or physicians of any significant changes in a patient’s heart rhythm or vital signs promptly, escalation critical issues (e.g., life-threatening)immediately

• Set up,maintain, and troubleshoot telemetry equipment, including electrodes and monitors

• Ensure proper signal transmission and resolve issues with poor connections or faulty equipment

• Record telemetry readings in the patient’s medical record for documentation and review, generate rhythm strips for analysis by the medical team

Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for all new hires, effective April 2014.2. Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current3. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current4. Six months previous experience in Healthcare or as Monitor Technician
