Position Overview

When you join our Monitor Technician team, you will be responsible for monitoring all patients requiring cardiac monitoring within the facility. Monitor Techs watch between 40 and 60 patients' cardiac rhythms for abnormalities and alarms. They escalate changes, recognize dangerous rhythms, and notify the healthcare team.

This position is for a Full Time Day Shift, 7am to 7:30pm. It includes weekends and holidays on a rotation.

About Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center

Located in Gilbert, AZ, it provides world-class oncology care, including inpatient and outpatient services, stem cell transplant, and comprehensive cancer programs. Facilities include linear accelerators, brachytherapy, advanced imaging, infusion bays, cryopreservation labs, and remote patient monitoring capabilities.

Position Summary

This role involves continuous observation of patient monitors, leads, activity, and behaviors, reporting changes to clinical staff, and maintaining activity logs per facility standards.

Core Functions

1. Monitor patients’ cardiac rhythms and behaviors, alert staff to abnormalities.
2. Obtain and document calibrated rhythm strips per policy.
3. Provide summaries and information to physicians and staff.
4. Maintain monitoring equipment.
5. Support department operations, including assisting patients, visitors, and staff.
6. Work under general supervision, interacting with staff, physicians, patients, families, and vendors.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Current BLS certification (required for Banner Staffing Services monitor technicians).
• Completion of ECG or EEG interpretation course or on-the-job training with a minimum score of 85%, capable of identifying lethal cardiac dysrhythmias or epileptiform activity.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional related education and/or experience are preferred.
