Position Summary
The Monitor Technician provides support to the patient care delivery team by observing the heart rhythms of patients who are receiving cardiac monitoring. The Monitor Technician is responsible for maintaining alarm parameters established by the physician and as instructed by the Registered Nurse (Decentralized Telemetry), and for notifying the Resource Nurse (Centralized Telemetry) and the Registered Nurse of critical changes in patient cardiac rhythms, following telemetry communication protocols.
Qualifications
Experience
Preferred but not required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications is preferred at hire; training will be provided, and skill development is expected within 30-60 days of hire.
Performance Expectations
Demonstrates competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
Work Environment
Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens and infectious diseases. The position requires standing, reaching, walking, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
